Wiesi Will textile exhibition, November 2020.
Vera Roggli and Laure Van Brempt are the designers behind the layered curtain at the back of our shop. Their shared fascination for ancient crafts and profound love for checked patterns made them dive into the Japanese ikat and kasuri techniques. In Kasuri textiles, the rhythm at which the threads have been dyed before weaving determines the pattern of the final fabric. Laure presented a foretaste of her ‘Tape & Tie carpet’ in the shape of cushions woven with pre-dyed textile bands. Vera shed new light on the classic kitchen towel by adapting the Kasuri technique in her own wabi-sabi way.
