Notre Pain Quotidien presents an archaeology of our iconography of bread, from the manual process of its creation to its strangest uses. In 156 pictorial arrangements, it reflects the presence of this staple food in our daily lives and its political, social, economic and aesthetic evolutions.
The images in this book come from cook books, manuals, social media and archives. They are gathered by Lalie Thébault Maviel, a French artist focusing on images and publishing from a perspective close to anthropology or archaeology. Her reflections are strongly influenced by societal issues and alternative lifestyles.
