This cahier is a visual sketchbook for an exhibition by Marlene Dumas at the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens. The artist positioned her own paintings of bodies and faces alongside items from the museum’s collection: abstract human figurines created some five thousand years ago. The enigmatic Cycladic antiquities speak to us in the same timeless language as Dumas’ contemporary works.
