These rice straw egg holders are an excellent example of Wara-zaiku, an ancient traditional Japanese craft which refers to any items made out of Japan’s plentiful supply of rice straw. They were hand-knotted by Yuki, who grows the rice herself in the Nagano region in Japan. You can find similar egg holders on the cover of the legendary book ‘How to wrap five eggs’, which celebrates the wisdom and craft that stems from everyday life.
